9 STEREOTYPES ABOUT GIRLS COLLEGES IN INDIA THAT EVERY GIRL IS TIRED OF HEARING.

by Team FUCCHA

title 1) Girls only talk about shopping. point 1 Yes, it’s true that diamonds are a girl’s best friend and almost every girl loves to shop but we don’t spend our whole day talking about brands and discounts. 2) There is a long queue of guys that stand outside every Girls College. ‘To kya hua agar girls college hai? Gate ke bahar to ladke khade milte hi honge’. This age old stereotype is definitely not applicable in the 21st century. The only guys we find outside our college gate are the auto wala bhaiyas. *phew* 3) Girls look at every guy who enters college during fests and competitions as a potential boyfriend. point 3 Okay, yeah, we do face a drought of the male population in a girls college but no, we do not become so desperate to stare at every guy like that. We have a life other than guys too! 4) Girls tend to change their sexual preferences by the time college ends. point 4 Why in the world is it so hard to believe that girls can be single too without doubting their sexual orientations? A lot of people often say that if you are in a girls college either you are dating someone or you are a homo. Counter to popular believe that girls get tilted towards becoming ‘homies’, a huge population of girls do remain single due to their own choice and reasons too. 5) They are dressed up in the best of their clothes and matching accessories every day. point 5 Yes, we do like dressing up but the perception that we get up every morning at 7 to dress up like we are going for a ramp walk is absolutely wrong. We love wearing oversized tees and shorts as much as we love our Zara and Forever dresses. 6) Girls are always dieting. Although maintaining a good figure is every girls dream but we do not always diet. We eat. A LOT! *bhaiya, teen samose dena extra chutney ke sath* 7) Girls get way too jealous of each other. point 7 In a Girls College where we see hundreds of girls every day, checking out the colour, brand, footwear, accessories become a routine job. We really don’t spend our time envying every girl of the campus. No, we don’t! 8) “But what about boys and partying? That’s what college is for!” Um, what? I’m sorry, but last time I checked, the point of going to college was to further your education, not just to find yourself a boyfriend or only partying. 9) Girls colleges are less fun. point 9 Although we do sometimes miss the presence of being in a co-ed environment, but that doesn’t mean we miss out on all the fun. Girls too eat, dance and party that too without being dependent on guys. Although, a lot of perceptions come up about girls colleges, but being a part of a girls college does make you largely independent, confident and outgoing to help you face any situation in life. *GIRL POWER*
