Delhi University Is Thinking To Scrap Cut Offs, Introduce An All India Entrance Test

by Team FUCCHA

Delhi University is likely to introduce admission exams for some in-demand  undergraduate courses

A committee headed by Manoj Khanna, the principal of Bhaskaracharya College that made the recommendation, has suggested that a certain weightage be given to the candidates' Class XII board marks too, two members of the panel told The Telegraph, a famous national daily.

Khalsa College’s Professor Nachiketa Singh, a member of DU's academic council and was also part of the 2016 admission committee, speaking to Mail Today said, “Delhi University is planning to scrap the du cut-off list system and move to an entrance test for admissions in undergraduate courses from the academic session 2017-18. The test would be objective. The entrance test is likely to be of 80 marks and 20 marks would be kept for assessing the CBSE marks of the particular subject in which the student will appear for the test.”

As per The Telegraph- “This decision will be binding on leading colleges such as Lady Shri Ram College, Hindu College, Shri Ram College of Commerce, Hansraj College and Kirori Mal College, but not necessarily on a minority institution like St Stephen's College”.

According to FUCCHA- Conducting an all India level exam for one of the top most universities in India needs proper planning and structure. This will certainly increase confusion and doubts amongst students.
