5 Most Popular College Festivals in Delhi University

  The season of fests has to be the most exciting time of the year in the life of any student of Delhi University. February, with its receding winters; is the harbinger of excitement among the DU people. It brings along a plethora of fiestas along with it. As promised, this year also proved to be a scintillating festival season at Delhi University. With a myriad of events, different themes, spectacular performers and soaring budgets; this season of fests never failed to surprise the people of Delhi. And as the fest season nears its end, we bring to you the five most popular college festivals of 2014, in descending order:   reverie 5. Reverie, Gargi College (5-7 February): Gargi’s annual fest, Reverie is one of the most underrated fests of Delhi University. However, the college has managed to get some popular performers like Raghu Dixit, Kailash Kher and Mohit Chauhan in the past few years. This year the college had Coke Studio artists Adi and Suhail performing at the Sufi Night. On the last day of the three day fest, Neeraj Shreedhar of the “tumhi ho bandhu” fame enthralled the crowd with a series of peppy numbers. Over the years, Reverie has managed to build its own brand name and living up to it.   1464040_677941162245528_1408272257_n 4. Mecca, Hindu College (20-22 February): Just like every year, this year also Hindu’s annual cultural fest, Mecca was a great hit. The first day saw the famous singer, Papon performing with his band East India Company. The second day DJ Nucleya and Dualist Inquiry from MTV made the crowd groove on their tunes. The third and final day, also the most awaited day of Mecca; had the popular singer Mohit Chauhan performing for the crowd. People thoroughly enjoyed themselves as Mohit sang some of his all times hits. All in all, the fest was a huge success.   1622201_547897845308254_125266824_n 3. Renaissance, KMC (4-5 March): KMC saw the versatile singer, Mika performing for the crowd on the first day of the fest. It was certainly a great concert and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The singer sang some of his peppy dance numbers and the audience could not help, but dance to the beats. On the second day, there was a performance by the immensely admired band, Parikrama. Apart from these, KMC also held a pre-event featuring the cast of the movie Gunday, earlier in February.   1497543_212825448907949_1187544765_n  2. Tempest, Miranda House (21-22 February): The theme for Tempest this year was “shades of green”, which according to the organizing committee symbolizes the color of nature, youth, renewal and energy. The fest was host to many interesting competitions like street theatre, western dance, battle of bands and many others. The main attraction of this 2-day fest was the concert by Arijit Singh, one of the most popular and entertaining singer of the present times. Crossroads, SRCC (6-9 March): As always, Crossroads wins the title for the best fest of DU, hands down. The college has been host to same great performances by KK, Vishal-Shekhar, Salim-Sulaiman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Sunidhi Chauhan, etc. in the past few years. And this year also, Crossroads lived up to the expectations of one and all. The well known singer, Shaan gave an amazing start to the fest and performed with great zeal and enthusiasm. He left the crowd mesmerized and hoping for even more in the upcoming 3 days. The second day was scheduled for VH1 supersonic, which included performances by Dualist Inquiry and Nikhil Chinappa. They left the crowd in an amazing dance mood with their hypnotic music. The next day, Inferno witnessed the western dance competition and fashion Show. In the evening, people danced to the music of Jennifer Rene, an international dance DJ and truly enjoyed themselves. On the fourth and very last day, the star cast of the recently released movie, Bewakoofiyan visited the college for promotion. A huge crowd welcomed them warmly. Ayushmann Khurana, also entertained the crowd by singing a few songs. After them, the stage was taken over by the powerful playback singer of Bollywood, Sukhwinder Singh. His energetic performance made the people enjoy every bit of the performance and dance on the popular songs like Jai ho and Chak de!
