JEE Main 2017: Exam Analysis

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2017 was conducted by CBSE on April 2, 2017. It is a qualifying examination for admission in the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) in the country. Students termed it easy this year compared to the last year. However, it can be said that an easy paper will result in higher cutoffs in the common merit list.

 

The JEE exam is held in two sets. Paper 1 is for BE/B. Tech courses and Paper 2 is for B. Arch/B. Planning. Paper 1 contains questions from mathematics, physics and chemistry. Paper 2 is mix of aptitude and mathematics. JEE Main exam analysis done by the students, for paper 1 is that mathematics was moderately difficult when compared to physics and chemistry. Students also said that most of the questions were from the CBSE syllabus with questions from NCERT also. Experts analyzed that there were 25 easy questions, 53 moderate questions and 12 difficult questions.

 

From this year, the government has also changed rules for the exam. There will be no weightage for Class 12 marks in calculating the ranks in the JEE Main exam. However, the Class 12 marks will be a criterion for selection. Out of the 10 lakh applicants who appeared for the exam, around 2.2 lakh candidates will be appearing in JEE Advanced on May 21, 2017 to compete for 11,000 seats. Students can check the official website for answer keys from April 18-22.
