Summary

Uttar Pradesh State Technical University (UPTU) conducts Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination also known as UPSEE which helps aspirants to take admission in professional courses which are available at the university along with institutes that are affiliated to the University.

UPSEE is a state level entrance exam which allows the candidates to secure admission at government aided as well as private unaided institutes that are affiliated to UPTU along with some other state universities of Uttar Pradesh.

Candidates can take admissions in programmes such as BTech (engineering), BTech (agricultural engineering), BArch, BPharma, hotel management as well as fashion & apparel design (1st year as well as lateral entry in 2nd year) by clearing UPSEE exam. Candidates can even secure admissions in post graduate dual degree courses such as MBA, MCA, MAM along with lateral entry in MCA programmes through this state level entrance examination.

UPSEE 2017 exam dates have been declared. The exam will be conducted on three dates - April 16, 22 and 23. The registration process for the exam started from January 18, 2017.

Eligibilty Criteria

The candidates who want to give this exam need to fulfill some eligibility criteria.

UPSEE Eligibility Criteria for BTech programmes

Candidates are eligible to apply for admissions into this course through UPSEE exam only if the:

  • Candidate have completed his/her 10+2 or intermediate exam from UP board or its equivalent from a recognised board or university with a minimum aggregate of 45% with physics and mathematics as subjects studied by them.

  • Candidates who belong to the SC/ST quota need to secure an aggregate of 40% in their 10+2.

  • Candidates should have secured this percentage without getting any grace marks from the state or central education board.

  • Candidates should have studied one of the following subjects – Biology, Chemistry or Biotechnology as an optional subject in order to fulfill the eligibility criteria for this exam.

UPSEE Eligibility Criteria for BTech Biotechnology programme

Candidates are eligible to apply for this course only if the:

  • Candidate have completed his/her 10+2 or intermediate exam from UP board or an equivalent exam from a recognised board or university with a minimum aggregate of 45% with physics and mathematics/biology as subjects studied by them.

  • They should have also studied biotechnology or chemistry as optionals subjects.

  • Candidates that belong to the SC/ST quota need to secure an aggregate of 40%.

  • Candidates should have secured this percentage without getting any grace marks from the state or central education board.

 

Exam Pattern

UPSEE 2017 exam paper consists of questions in multiple choice format. The language of instruction in the question paper will be both Hindi as well as English so the students and solve the paper in which ever language that suits them.

The duration of UPSEE exam is three hours for BTech programmes. But, the duration for BArch exam is two and a half hours and for BHMCT/BFAD, it is one and a half hours.

Candidates who are appearing for Bio-Tech engineering need to give Paper-2 as well.

Marking: Candidates will be awarded with four marks for every correct answer. There is no negative marking in this entrance exam. However, they keep a record of incorrect answers given by a candidate separately.

Different programmes have different UPSEE 2017 exam pattern/structure. Pattern for some of the exam is given below.

BTech

The question paper contains 50 objective type questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics which mean the question paper will have 150 questions in total. Candidates are evaluated out of 600 marks.

BTech Bio-Technology

The question paper for this programme contains 50 objective type questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. Candidates are evaluated out of 600 marks.

BTech Agriculture Engineering

The question paper for this course contains 150 objective type questions from the agriculture discipline. Candidates are evaluated out of 600 marks.

BPharm

The question paper contains 50 objective type questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. Candidates are evaluated out of 600 marks.

BArch

The exam paper for BArch is divided into two sections, that is, part A and part B. Part A consist of questions from Mathematics and Aesthetic Sensitivity and Part B test the candidates drawing aptitude. Candidates are evaluated out of 500 marks.

BHMCT/BFAD

The question paper for BHMCT/BFAD contains 75 objective type questions testing the candidate’s general awareness. The maximum marks that a candidate can score for this exam is 300.

Lateral Entry in BTech

This question paper consists of 75 objective type questions testing the aptitude of diploma holders in engineering. Candidates are evaluated out of 300 marks.

Lateral Entry in BPharm

This question paper consists of 75 objective type questions testing the aptitude of diploma holders in pharmacy. Candidates are evaluated out of 300 marks.
