About Jamia Millia Islamia


Jamia Millia Islamia, an institution originally established at Aligarh in United Provinces, India in 1920 became a Central University by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1988. In Urdu language, Jamia means ‘University’, and Millia means ‘National’.By a Special Act of the Parliament, Jamia Millia Islamia was made a central university of India in December 1988. In the list of the Faculties, i.e. Education, Humanities & Languages, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences. Engineering & Technology, one more Faculty - Faculty of Law, was added in 1989. Many new courses and programmes at UG and PG levels have since been added.Besides its Nine faculties, the Jamia has a number of centres of learning and research, like AJK-Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC), Academy of International Studies etc. About Jamia  Millia Islamia is also marching ahead in the field of Information Technology (IT). It offers various undergraduate and postgraduate IT courses. Apart from this, the Jamia has a campus wide network which connects a large number of its departments and offices.

Jamia Millia Islamia  offers different programs such as Ph.D,M.B.A,MCA,M.A,M.Com and many more Students have ample options to get admission into Jamia Millia Islamia  Apart from various programmes, the University has also introduced six new programmes from this academic session.There will be a total intake of 190 candidates for the newly-introduced courses such as MA in International Relations (West Asian Studies), Master's in Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM) and LLM (Executive).The decision to start these courses was taken by the university's academic council.Other new courses being introduced are diploma in Pharmacy (Unani), Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM), Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM)."Except MA (International Relations-West Asian Studies), all other courses are self-financed. Thirty students each will be enrolled in MA in International Relations (West Asian Studies), LLM (Executive), Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM), Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM) and Masters in Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM) while 40 students will be admitted for Diploma in Pharmacy (Unani)," a senior official said. Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate coursesAll the candidates interested in applying for graduate courses need to be intermediate (class 12) pass from a recognised state board.And for Post graduate courses,All the candidates need to possess a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised institute/university.The last date to apply is March 3.

Admission Procedure in Jamia Millia Islamia

Candidates will be intimated about the Admit cards for the entrance test via SMS. And the candidates will able to download them after it made available online.
